Palace on Wheels -- Once in a lifetime train ride

Palace on Wheels is an ultra luxury train ride in India. This tour is for 7 nights and 8 days and starts from Delhi. This train covers Jaipur, Jodhpur, Chittorgarh, Udaipur, Jaisalmer, Bharatpur and Agra. The best part of the tour is that accomodation is on the train. Each cabin is tastefully decorated with attached bath. The passenger coaches were originally the personal railway coaches of the erstwhile rulers of princely states of Rajputana, Gujarat, the Nizam of Hyderabad and the Viceroy of British India.

Palace-on-Wheels was
first introduced in 1982 and continuosly upgraded. Currently it has 14 Saloons named after princely states of Rajastan and interior matching the aesthetics of the royal states. The train also has a well appointed lounge, library, bar  dining cars. You will get Maharaja treatment on-board the train.
Saloons with attached bath and double bed accomodation with breakfast lounge
Dining Car. One for Indian cusine and other one for continental cusine
Full service bar
Breakfast Lounge (above) for each saloon and double bed comfort in each cabin (below)
On day 2 when we got out of the train we were surprised to see red carpet, traditional welcome with music and tilak. We were garlanded and taken out the railway station like VIPs. We enjoyed this the first time but got little embarrassed from next time onwards and avoided the royal treatment as much as possible.
Hava mahal, Jaipur
Traditional welcome at each station
